Affordable Ethical Underwear FAQ

Is ethical and sustainable underwear laundry-friendly?

Yes! In fact, since many ethical underwear brands use high-quality, non-synthetic materials, their underwear lasts much longer after being washed than conventional underwear brands.

We suggest that you check the product page of each ethical underwear item. The product pages usually have very specific care instructions that tell you how to wash and dry your underwear.

Some product pages (like Lara Intimates) also give you a guarantee of lasting a certain number of washes.

If you’re worried about your underwear shrinking, discoloring, or becoming uncomfortable after a wash or two, some brands like WAMA and Saint Basics offer a “first try guarantee” type of program. These programs give you an opportunity to try out your first pair of ethical underwear. If you don’t like them for any reason, these programs will usually issue you a no-questions-asked refund or exchange.

How long does ethical and sustainable underwear last?

This depends on the materials and also how well you care for your underwear. We suggest that you check the underwear’s product page for care instructions. Those care instructions will tell you the best practices for how to wash, dry, and store your underwear so that it lasts as long as possible.

One thing is for sure: ethical and sustainable underwear typically lasts longer than conventional underwear.

This is because the materials used in conventional are cheap and not made to last. Conventional underwear brands do this so that after your cheap underwear tears and is worn out, you’ll go back to buy more.

Ethical and sustainable underwear is more environmentally and socially friendly. They are sourced with higher quality materials that are typically not synthetic. This guarantees that your underwear feels sexy for longer.

Is Pact underwear a good ethical brand?

Looking for the best affordable ethical underwear? Look no further! This is your most comprehensive guide that will tell you about all of the ethical and sustainable options out there that are $25 USD or less. I'll also tell you about where to find ethical lingerie sets and ethical men's underwear. Big bonus: tips on the best ethical underwear for your period! | Pact underwear | Human of Impact | humanofimpact.org

Yes and no. They are better than some others but even though they have affordable ethical underwear, they are not the most sustainable or ethical brand.

Pact is a popular sustainable and fair trade brand that makes organic clothing and sustainable home goods.

Their affordable ethical underwear is usually on the cheaper side at ~$12 USD. However, we didn’t include it in our big roundup because other brands ranked higher in ethical practices.

This doesn’t mean that Pact underwear is bad. Not at all!

They definitely have admirable commitments to sustainability and fair trade labor.

In fact, they are known for their GOTS Certified organic cotton clothing from Fair Trade USA certified factories. The thing is, organic cotton is still not the most eco-friendly textile alternative to synthetic textiles. Check out our Ultimate Ethical Home Guide for more info on ethical textiles.

Basically, even if your products are made from organic cotton, the dyes, the washing, and the processing of the cotton still can be very damaging to the environment. This is why other natural materials like Tencel and bamboo can be better alternatives…IF their processing is eco-friendly as well.

So overall, yes! Pact underwear is a good way to go if you want comfy underwear that is sourced from organic cotton and fair trade labor.

Because remember: there is no 100% ethical fabric or 100% ethical brand! It’s a balancing act.

Is Ethika underwear a good ethical brand?

Ethika is has many cute styles of underwear and intimates for both men and women. Their designs are fitting for younger people because of the brighter colors used.

The question is: “But is Ethika a good affordable ethical underwear brand? Their name sounds ethical!!”

And to this we say: NO!

If you’re looking for an ethical and sustainable underwear brand, Ethika’s name is misleading.

Nowhere on their website do they talk about their ethical and sustainable values. In fact, their About Page doesn’t even have more than 6 sentences of text.

You might be thinking: “…um, but they use modal and that’s a sustainable material, right?”

So, let’s take a closer look. I went into a couple of product listings and noticed that they only use modal for the lining of some underwear designs. Many of the men’s designs are made with 100% synthetic materials! Women’s underwear are not much better.

Ethika is not transparent about where and how their materials are sourced. Just because they have modal in their products does not mean that they are an ethical brand. The modal is not in every product. Their products could be sourced from unethical labor practices. The list goes on!

The final verdict is that no. Ethika is NOT an ethical underwear brand.
